Maida Withers, dancer, choreographer, filmmaker, and teacher will present a visual lecture examining her amazing history of choreography and performance. 

 

Maida is  Artistic Director of Maida Withers Dance Construction Company, and Professor of Dance and Theatre, George Washington University in Washington, DC.  Maida Withers Dance Construction Company blends dance and performance with media to create progressive and challenging new works.  Maida Wither's 120^th works created for stage, site, and film reveals her lifelong fascination with the possible connection of the human body, mind, and performance with technology. This fascination has led to the creation of previous groundbreaking interdisciplinary and interactive works with a rotating loudspeaker, laser beams, interactive cyber art, video installation, video feedback, always with original music created and performed live.   In 2014-2015, Maida Withers Dance Construction Company celebrates its 40^th anniversary. Collaboration and innovation and experimentation are hallmarks of the Company. Maida and the Company have toured in over 20 different countries.  The current project, MindFluctuations, is a collaboration between art and computer science intended to explore neural connections.
